Just Wait

The terrible 2's, the toddler years, miserable middle schoolers, the dreaded teen years, rebellious teens....these have all been spoken over children for years. I've spoken at least one or more of these over my children at one time or another. Or I've said or heard the "Just waits"....Just wait til they turn 2. Just wait til they are teenagers. And I've never heard the "Just Waits" in a positive manner. But why? Is it so I can have a sense that my kids are acting normal ? Is it so I can justify their behavior? Whatever the reason I have to remember that my mouth is powerful.

My words can move mountains...Jesus said so.

Just because my two year old is frustrated and throwing a fit doesn't make them terrible. It may mean they need more choices from me.

If my middle schooler is crying all the time, it doesn't mean they are miserable. It means their hormones are upside down and they need some grace....some understanding that we've all been there.

If my teen is making poor choices, it doesn't make them rebellious. It may mean I need to work on my heart connection with them.

I don't want to dread one single stage my kids are going through. I want to enjoy them and cheer them on in whatever stage of life they are in....... whether they are 2 or 18. I've moved on from the 2's stage, but I don't want to dread the tweens or teens stage.

Do we have hard days? Of course! Sometimes we have hard weeks. It's all apart of growing and learning.

Do we have good days??? Absolutely! But  they always out weigh the rough ones. Embrace the now....that's what I want to do. :-)
